Empty weeks gave the points back.

JM Thomas · 17 August 2026

Sixteen weeks of 250 mg tablets climbed the dementia sheet. Four empty weeks slid it.

They climbed.

Then the bottle stopped.

The bottle sat empty and the sheet slid

Week 16 held the climb. Week 20 gave it back.

Mori's group printed the work in Phytotherapy Research, volume 23, pages 367 to 372, after a Yokohama room that ran 22 weeks: 2 weeks of prelims, 16 weeks of tablets, then 4 weeks with the bottle closed.

The mushroom arm's scores rose with the weeks they swallowed the powder.

Stopped.

The reprint says the scores decreased during those 4 empty weeks against the week-16 mark, p under 0.001, and that continuous intake is necessary to keep the effect, which is the line a gummy caption never keeps because the caption sells a permanent mental edge and Yokohama sold a sheet that needed the next tablet.

Reversible.

That is the mechanism a lion's mane search is after if the search wants a number instead of a glow.

Yokohama handed them twelve tablets a day

Four tablets. Three times. Sixteen weeks.

The mushroom lab sat at Hokuto Corporation, 800-8 Shimokomazawa, Nagano, 381-0008. The hospital sat at 1-16-26 Mori, Isogoku, Yokohama, 235-0023. Koichiro Mori's correspondence line sat at Tohoku University, Aoba 6-3, Aramaki, Aoba-ku, Sendai 980-8578.

Isogo Central and Neurosurgical Hospital signed the room. Written consent. Helsinki 2004.

They took 50-to-80-year-old Japanese men and women who already sat at 22 to 25 out of 30 on a cognitive function scale built on the Revised Hasegawa Dementia Scale, then they randomized 30 people into two 15-person groups after those 2 preliminary weeks, and they said the two groups did not split on that prelim score or on age.

Young gym buyers are a different room.

The test food was 250 mg tablets holding 96 percent Yamabushitake dry powder, fruit bodies air-dried at 60 °C overnight, plus silicon dioxide and fat. The sugar arm got cornstarch and lactose in the same shape, with caramel so the color would not rat the group out.

Four tablets. Three times a day. Sixteen weeks.

Twelve swallows on the clock.

Donepezil stayed out. So did ifenprodil, sermion, meclofenoxate, ibudilast, amantadine, tiapride, and calcium hopantenate. Ginkgo leaf extract stayed out. Foods with a lot of DHA stayed out. People wrote the swallows and the gut days in a diary.

One person left at week 4 with stomach discomfort, mild enough that the file said it did not require withdrawal, and they left anyway, so the sheet used 29 people: 14 on the mushroom, 15 on sugar.

The scale was HDS-R cut to 28, plus a 2-point clock-drawing add-on, for 30. They asked each person to put every number on a pre-drawn 3 cm circle. Two points if the numbers sat in the right place. Mori wrote that HDS-R screens Alzheimer's more accurately than MMSE in the East Asian rooms that actually use it.

The mushroom arm printed ten climbers

Ten of fourteen. Three points or more.

Two-way repeated measures ANOVA printed between-group p under 0.001, between-period p under 0.001, and a group-by-period interaction under 0.001.

At weeks 8, 12, and 16 the mushroom arm sat higher than sugar. The follow-up week still sat higher than sugar. The climb grew with the weeks they kept swallowing.

Figure 2 compared week 16 with the start. A 3-or-more-point rise counted as a real climb. A 2-point rise counted as a smaller climb. A shift of 1, 0, or minus 1 counted as unchanged. A 2-or-more-point drop would have counted as worse. Nobody printed that drop.

Ten of fourteen on the mushroom, 71.4 percent, climbed 3 or more. One of fifteen on sugar, 6.7 percent, did the same.

Three of fourteen, 21.4 percent, climbed 2. One of fifteen on sugar did that too.

One mushroom case, 7.1 percent, stayed put. Thirteen sugar cases, 86.7 percent, stayed put.

The sugar arm also rose at week 16 against its own start, and the discussion names week 8 as well, so a habit of taking the same sheet can move a point or two even when the tablet is cornstarch.

Name that hole.

The file never printed a mean-score table. The means live in Figure 1. This page keeps the counts the reprint actually wrote.

Dark lime split. Left week 16 full bottle and high bar, 10 of 14. Right week 20 empty bottle and lower bar. No face.
Left week 16, 10 of 14. Right empty weeks. No face.

The gym aisle sold a different room

The aisle sold a mental edge. Yokohama sat 50-to-80 MCI.

On 14 August 2026 Men's Fitness asked if lion's mane actually works, and Alexander Leritz named the capsule aisle as a nootropic for healthy men looking for a mental edge, then said the studies that moved a number followed older adults with mild cognitive decline, and that the benefit faded once they stopped.

That aisle-then-wrong-room is the move this page steals before it walks into the twelve-tablet Yokohama clock Mori actually used.

A coffee-shop gummy is a different swallow.

Mori measured fruit-body powder at 96 percent, twelve 250 mg tablets a day, 16 weeks, a 22-to-25 start on a 30-point sheet, and a 4-week empty window that slid the climb. A healthy 28-year-old popping a gummy before a presentation is a different body than a 66-year-old in Yokohama who already sat at 22 to 25.

Hericenones C through H and erinacines A through I showed NGF synthesis in cultured rodent astrocytes. Mori wrote that it is still unknown whether those compounds do the same in human cells, or whether they cross into the brain. The climb may sit on hericenones. The file does not lock that.

The guts split even

Seven mushroom guts. Six sugar guts. Nobody needed a clinic.

Table 3 printed the blood and the cuff at weeks 0, 8, and 16. Systolic on the mushroom arm sat at 123.0, spread 17.0, at the start, and 120.8, spread 21.7, at week 16. Weight sat at 54.49 kg, spread 11.40, against 61.15, spread 13.74, on sugar. BMI 22.65 against 23.60. Those start weights already split. The authors called the lab moves small and inside the normal range, or leftover from the random draw.

Creatinine and sodium moved inside the mushroom arm and stayed inside the standard window. Potassium moved too. Sugar moved systolic and AST the same way. LDH and HDL moved. Chloride moved too. Total cholesterol already split at the start. Uric acid split at week 16. Still inside the window.

Seven people on the mushroom and six on sugar wrote poor physical condition. Mild stomach discomfort and diarrhea. No treatment. The incidence did not split.

Hokuto cultured the fruit bodies in Nagano and staffed the mushroom lab that designed the tablet. Name the company on the page. The other nootropic files sit in the Library.

This file is Yokohama, twelve tablets, and four empty weeks that gave the points back.

Write week 20 on the bottle.

If you came here for lion's mane, Yokohama measured twelve 250 mg tablets a day for 16 weeks in 50-to-80-year-olds who already sat at 22 to 25, then left the bottle empty for 4 weeks and reprinted the sheet.

Empty weeks gave the points back.

Keep a week-20 number if the sheet is why you opened the bottle. A gummy that never prints a washout is a different swallow than the 96-percent powder they actually used.

What the Yokohama bottle still leaves open

Did the sugar tablets stay flat?

No. The sugar arm rose at week 16 against its own start, and the discussion also names week 8. Thirteen of fifteen still counted as unchanged. One sugar case climbed 3 or more.

Who sat in Yokohama?

Japanese men and women, ages 50 to 80, prelim scores 22 to 25 out of 30, living a clinically healthy life with no other disorder named as a problem. A well 30-year-old in a gym line is a different room.

Did the guts blow up?

One person left at week 4 with stomach discomfort. Seven mushroom cases and six sugar cases wrote mild gut days. Nobody needed treatment. Lab moves stayed inside the normal window.

Is a coffee-shop gummy the 3-gram tablet?

This file used four 250 mg tablets, 96 percent fruit-body powder, three times a day, for 16 weeks. A gummy that never prints a milligram or a washout week is a different swallow.

How fast did the sheet slide after the last tablet?

Four weeks. The mushroom score dropped against week 16, p under 0.001. The authors wrote that continuous intake is necessary to keep the effect.
