When the tone hit 110, the left temple went quiet.
A stone room already held a note in the voice range. A one-minute tone at that note sat the language side down.
A one-minute tone at 110 hertz sat the language side down. The neighbor notes left it standing.
I kept a 432 file on the phone for a year. The chamber note never got a play. The playlist stayed pretty. The left temple never got a chance to sit.
Newgrange already held the note
The central chamber rang at 110 hertz. That number came from a microphone in the room, years before anyone put a cap on a scalp.
Jahn, Devereux, and Ibison walked six old structures in the British Isles with a speaker and a meter. Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1996. 99(2):649-658. DOI 10.1121/1.414642. Each room held a strong resonance between 95 and 120 hertz, even though the shapes and sizes differed. Antinodes sat at the outer walls. Nodes sat toward the source.
Cook later named the Newgrange center at 110. Chun Quoit, in the same 1996 file, sat at 99. Most of the set clustered at 110 to 112. The band sits inside an adult singing voice. A guitar A string in standard tuning sits at 110. Cook wrote that coincidence in the 2008 comment. He did not claim the builders copied a later orchestra.
Six rooms rang in one band
Five of the six date near 3500 B.C. One dates near 500 B.C. The shared fact is the band, not a single carved number on every lintel.
Devereux and Jahn also put a short note in Antiquity that same year. 70(269):665-666. DOI 10.1017/S0003598X00083800. They asked whether the ring was part of how the rooms were used. Chant would couple into a cavity that already likes that pitch. The PDF leaves the builder intent as a question.
Wright later told an Acoustical Society meeting that rooms of that size often have a mode in that band. 2007. JASA 121(5):3042. DOI 10.1121/1.4782131. Meeting abstract. No new chamber n. Keep both files. The rooms ring. The scalp file still has to earn 110 against 90 and 130.
UCLA played the neighbors for one minute
Thirty healthy adults. Sixteen women. Fourteen men. Mean age 78.6, SD 6.3. Eyes closed. Five sine tones.

Order was random. 90, 100, 110, 120, 130. About one minute each. Speakers near the ears. No story about tombs. No prompt about what to feel. Cordance in the theta band, 4 to 8 hertz, from 20 to 30 seconds of clean EEG per tone. Theta cordance tracks blood flow better than raw power in the paper they cite for the method.
Left temporal cordance sat down at 110
T3 and T5. The language side. 110 sat at 1.36. 90 sat at 1.71. 130 sat at 1.78.
Means and SDs from Table 1. 90 Hz: 1.71 (1.37), p = .04 versus 110. 100 Hz: 1.69 (1.45), p = .07. 110 Hz: 1.36 (1.27). 120 Hz: 1.45 (1.65), p = .31. 130 Hz: 1.78 (1.34), p = .01. Paired t-tests. The 100 and 120 neighbors are the soft ones. The far neighbors are the ones that clear.
Cook read the drop as less activity under that tone, in a region that handles spoken language. Relative quiet. The paper calls it compatible with language centers sitting down so other work can rise. They did not collect a thought diary, so that last clause stays a reading, not a second meter.
The forehead flipped sides
Asymmetry index, left minus right, AF1/FP1 versus AF2/FP2. Positive means the left forehead is louder. 110 is the only negative.
90 Hz: 0.10 (1.05), p = .02 versus 110. 100 Hz: 0.02 (0.88), p = .04. 110 Hz: -0.18 (1.06). 120 Hz: 0.12 (0.85), p = .05. 130 Hz: 0.15 (0.99), p = .03. The left forehead led on four tones. The right forehead led on 110.
Cook pointed at Davidson-style work on approach and withdrawal. He also said they never asked what the minute felt like. Age is a limit he printed. Volume was self-set. Handedness was self-report. The file is a pilot. The flip still sits in Table 1.
432 stays on the phone
432 versus 440 is concert pitch and a small autonomic downshift. 110 is a neighbor two octaves below 440 that moved a scalp map.
The 432 page already ran Calamassi and Aravena. Heart rate. Saliva. That sit compares two concert pitches. This sit compares 110 to 90, 100, 120, and 130 on theta cordance. Keep the 432 file if you like how it feels. Play 110 when you want the neighbor the chamber already held.

Play 110. Write one word after.
Make a one-minute 110 hertz sine on a speaker you already own. Eyes closed. Loud enough to hear, then leave the knob. When the minute ends, write the Hertz you actually played, then one word about the inner sentence: quieter, same, or louder.
Cook measured the tone and the scalp in the same minute. Duration past that minute is unknown. The scrap is how you keep 90 and 130 from sneaking onto the speaker.
If the chest clamps, sit until that clamp lets go, then play again. The Library keeps the other sits if you want them later.
Questions the tone still leaves
Does a phone speaker count, or only a stone room?
Cook used speakers near the ears, eyes closed, in a lab. No passage tomb. A phone that can hold a 110 hertz sine is the home version of that speaker. The chamber is how the note was found. The scalp file used a speaker.
Why did they use people in their seventies?
The tone block sat inside a healthy-aging EEG project. Mean age 78.6, SD 6.3. Cook named that as a limit on who the finding covers. High-frequency hearing loss sits far above 90 to 130 hertz. A younger scalp file does not exist in this PDF.
Is 110 the orchestra A?
Cook wrote that 110 hertz is the musical A two octaves below the 440 concert A. A guitar A string in standard tuning sits there. That is a pitch fact. It is not a claim that orchestras copied Newgrange.
How long is one sit?
Each tone ran about one minute. Five tones. Random order. Eyes closed. Cook scored 20 to 30 seconds of clean EEG per tone. The useful clock is that minute, then a one-word mark about the inner sentence.
Is this a medical page?
Cordance on a scalp. Literature. A seizure, a sudden hearing drop, or a panic attack belongs to a doctor, not another sine wave.
